It’s quite a British thing to not blow one’s own trumpet, isn’t it? Well, stereotypes be damned… we’re going the whole Miles Davis on this one. It’s not every day you win 5 stars in The Times Alcohol Free Taste Test, is it?
One of only three alcohol free drinks to win 5 stars in the ‘Non-Alcoholic Drinks Taste Test’, written and published by The Times writer, Harry Wallop, we’re delighted that our Royal Flush kombucha has received the recognition we’ve always suspected it deserves.
Mr Wallop said of our Royal Flush kombucha – one of three alcohol free drinks that we currently make for market, “Kombucha, like kefir, kimchi and other fermented thing beginning with ‘k’, has been declared a miracle product. Fermented tea, it is often sweetened and flavoured with fruit, but this has been left in its pure state. And it’s all the better for it. The slightly vinegary nose gives way to a lovely, deep flavour with a dry spicy undertone. A grown-up soft drink.”
Needless to say, we couldn’t agree more. In fact, the idea of created a sophisticated, adult soft drink – alcohol free to cater for a growing desire for more options in bars – was right there from the very first meetings we had as a company. We were brewing it for these very reasons, and for Mr Wallop and The Times to recognise that at first sip is incredibly satisfying.
We were also pleased to be featured in Mr Wallop’s other article today, ‘Mindful drinking: how City workers are going alcohol free‘. Our man, Adrian Hodgson, was quoted as saying, “You always get a straw with your non-alcoholic drink. That’s why we started the business. Put a bloody good drink in the right glass and make people feel as if they are having something. It’ll sell.”
We hope you manage to get out there and taste some Royal Flush for yourselves. You can order it online via this page, or go into any of these bars and restaurants and drink your fill. Be sure to let us know what you think using the #RealKombucha hashtag on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. We can’t wait to hear/see what you think.
